The conservancy will continue to offer shark tours in Chatham through the Chatham Bars Inn, but has hired a spotter plane to bring boats from both locations to sharks cruising the Outer Cape coastline.
The shark tours have changed over the years, as they no longer shadow the research vessel tagging sharks but are on their own, which Long said allows those vessels to get closer to great whites and follow them. Those on board will be allowed to film sharks using waterproof cameras on poles and obtain an identification of tagged sharks using a hydrophone. The tagging vessel also will be able to use the slip at the museum while it is working in Cape Cod Bay, Long said.
